Inspiring places: Art hotel Atelier sul Mare, Castel di Tusa, Sicily

I love design and art, so was thrilled to be able to stay at Atelier sur Mare during the Sicilian leg of our Italian road trip this summer (check #italianroadtrip on secretgardenhome Instagram).

Atelier sul mare, reception area, arthotel, Tusa, SicilyAtelier serves as a museum of contemporary art as well as a unique hotel where guests can immerse themselves in masterpieces and creativity by staying in one of forty specially designed art rooms. Each room has been created by a different artist and evokes an array of emotions by using different materials, colours and textures. Each theme is special and takes a guest for an incredible journey.

The experience is not for those who seek a standard hotel experience. You won’t see there a TV, mini bar or a hairdryer.

Each shower room will surprise you, so be ready to look for a light switch. Atelier sul mare is an adventure itself.

The location is simply beautiful; the picturesque beach is in front of the hotel and the mountains surround the area. Very relaxing and inspiring place.

My favourite room was definitely The Prophet room created by Antonio Presti (who also made the greatest open air park of sculptures in Europe Fiumara d’Arte), Dario Bellezza and Adele Cambria.

If you go to Sicily, instead of heading to overcrowded Cefalu, got to Castel di Tusa and submerge yourself in this Sicilian gem.

Have you been to Sicily before? Are you familiar with Atelier sul Mare?
